Do you have that one song, where no matter how many times you hear it, you immediately start dancing or singing? It may be a month, decade or quarter of a century old, yet it doesn't matter....it's your favorite song. Mine is a tossup, depending on my mood. If I want to get pumped up for something, it would be Poison by Bel Biv DeVoe. If I am feeling melancholy, it would be Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve. If I were to be racing a car, it would be Firestarter by The Prodigy (I know this because every time it comes on Sirius, I end up speeding).
Why am I talking about music you ask? Because Bristol Motor Speedway is doing something that I think is genius this weekend. They are letting drivers select their own songs for driver introductions.
For instance:
Tony Stewart & David Stremme - Bawitdaba by Kid Rock
Mark Martin - For Those About To Rock by AC/DC
Dale Earnhardt Jr, Jimmie Johnson & David Ragan - Thunderstruck by AC/DC
Matt Kenseth - The Enemy by Godsmack
Casey Mears & Max Papis - Animals by Nickelback
Brian Vickers - This Town by O.A.R.
Kurt Busch & AJ Allmendinger - Going The Distance by Cake
Carl Edwards - Jump Around by House of Pain (GOOD CHOICE CARL!)
Scott Speed - Boom Boom Pow by The Black Eyed Peas
Kyle Busch - Amazing by Kanye West
Kevin Harvick - Party Up by DMX
Denny Hamlin - My Time by Fabolous
Jeff Gordon - Start Me Up by Rolling Stones
Jeff Burton - Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N' Roses
Kasey Kahne - Life On The Run by Dierks Bentley
Michael Waltrip - As Good As I Once Was by Toby Keith
Ryan Newman - Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy by Big & Rich
Bobby Labonte - Chicken Fried by Zac Brown Band
Clint Boyer - CC Rider by Elvis Presley
Reed Sorenson - Billie Jean by Michael Jackson
Juan Pablo Montoya - All Star by Smash Mouth
Elliott Sadler & David Reutimann - 2001: A Space Odyssey Theme Song (Calling Ric Flair?)
Marcus Ambrose - Land Down Under by Men At Work
Joey Logano - East Bound and Down (the theme from Smokey and the Bandit)
I think the music shown above shows that NASCAR drivers have a fantastic taste in music. If you had to select a song for driver intros, what would it be and why? Also, would you choose the same song that another driver already took claim on?

The music choices reflect the view so many have about NASCAR to start with; compared to Dan Gurney, the only person in history to design and build his own car then drive it and win an F1 race. Opera is his favorite music.
A person's IQ is directly related to the complexity of the music they enjoy.
Should at least give a compliment to the choice of "Sprach Zarathustra" by R. Strauss; a small step in the right direction.
